SINOPSE :-
1993. Dicky Ecklund (Christian Bale) teve seu auge ao enfrentar o campeão mundial Sugar Ray Leonard em uma luta de boxe, colocando a pequena cidade de Lowell no mapa. Até hoje ele vive desta fama, apesar de ter desperdiçado a carreira devido às drogas. Micky Ward (Mark Wahlberg), seu irmão, tenta agora a sorte no mundo do boxe, sendo treinado por Dicky e empresariado por Alice (Melissa Leo), sua mãe. Só que a família sempre o coloca em segundo plano em relação a Dicky, o que impede que Micky consiga ascender no esporte. A situação muda quando ele passa a namorar Charlene Fleming (Amy Adams), que o incentiva a deixar a influência familiar e tratar a carreira de forma mais profissional.
CURIOSIDADES :-
– Inicialmente seria Darren Aronofsky o diretor de O Vencedor;
– Mark Wahlberg chegou a convidar Martin Scorsese para assumir o comando, mas o veterano diretor recusou.
– Matt Damon e Brad Pitt estiveram cotados para interpretar o personagem Dick Ecklund, que ficou com Christian Bale;
– Michael Fassbender fez testes para o elenco, mas não foi selecionado;
– Um papel foi oferecido a Emily Blunt, que o recusou;
